After evolving from Cole's family photography business into Cole + Kiera Photography last January, the first clients we *officially* booked as a husband and wife team (under the new business name) were Hilary and Patrick. Because Cole, Pat and Hilary have been friends since their days at The University of San Francisco, we were elated to hear of their engagement. We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate with them than giving them a mimosa-infused engagement portrait session. I remember talking to Cole in the car on the way to brunch with Hilary and Pat to remind him (and myself) to really try not to say anything that would make Hilary or Pat feel like there was any pressure to hire us to photograph their wedding day, but of course we really wanted them to hire us to photograph their wedding day! We just wanted them to be able to make that decision for themselves and leave some room for them to go a different direction. It's kind of a fine line, but we clearly embrace muddying relationship waters with business (ahem, C+K Photography). Needless to say, we were beyond excited when Hilary and Pat told us they not only loved their engagement photos but they wanted to book us for their wedding. We couldn't have asked for a better overall experience and are so glad that we did dance that line between friends and clients.
Hilary and Pat's wedding at Mount Hood Organic Farms was quite the soirée. Devoted friends and family came from far and wide to celebrate with them. Everyone in attendance cried at some point, danced and laughed their hearts out, and reveled in the majestic Pacific North West setting.
Hilary and Pat were refreshingly calm and composed on their wedding day. The day reflected them in so many ways -- there were aspects and moments that were light-hearted and downright hilarious, balanced with ones rich in meaning and emotion. While they planned such a beautiful wedding with incredibly special details, at the end of the day (and at the beginning and in the middle) they were truly focused on the detail that mattered most -- marrying each other.
...And having a heckuva good time with family & friends at The Party Of All Parties.
Pat and Hilary: You guys are the best. It's an honor to be your friends and even more so to have been such a special part of your wedding day. We love you guys and will always be grateful that you both gave us your complete trust as your friends and wedding photographers!

Kiera
