You guys. I don’t have words to adequately describe how excited I am that these two — Katie and Patrick — are “our” couple. For one, Katie is one of the funniest, joyful, positive people I know. She lived right behind one of our closest family friends growing up so we knew each other quite well from overlapping play dates. We swam together every summer of our childhood at the same country club (N-o-r-t-h Hempstead!) and we went to the same high school (she was my sister’s year). But that is nearly a lifetime ago for Katie, who was literally run over by a truck and not only survived, but is a G.D. inspiration of a human being and stronger than I can fathom. Please do yourself a favor and go read her book. (Behind that link.) You will cry and laugh and be inspired. Listen to the audiobook if you’d like as well. It’s Katie reading it and she’s good, y’all.
I was worried to meet Patrick because how will anyone ever be good enough for this super woman of a person? But Cole and I hung out with Patrick after photographing the aforementioned friend’s wedding, Michaela! We both fell in love that night with Patrick too but unfortunately, he is already taken. But seriously, he’s witty and wonderful and that hair and those dimples and most of all, he is very clearly crazy about Katie.
We are beyond thrilled and honored to be photographing their Vermont wedding at the gooooorgeous River Road Farm coming up in… holy moly… 3.5 weeks! These photos from their engagement session were taken last month in Brooklyn. Brooklyn is where Katie’s life changing accident happened over 11 years ago. It’s where Katie and Patrick live together. And it’s where Patrick proposed to Katie and she said yes!
For the engagement session, we all had a freakin delicious meal and cocktails at Meadowsweet (has a Michelin star, NBD) then walked to the Williamsburg Bridge, and visited the spot where Patrick proposed to Katie. And to finish, we dropped by Domino park on the first warm beautiful Saturday of Spring where everyone in Brooklyn had just emerged from their winter slumber. It was a blast, and these two are not only people you want to hang out with but they are pretty good lookin too, making portraits fun and easy peasy.
Ok, onto the photos… and stay tuned for the wedding! Go read the book now, k bye.
